Whispers of Enchantment: The Gingerbread House(Chapter one only)

IMPORTANT: I would like to give credit to Ella Xie, Zoe Ying and Madeline Angell

Of course,  it’s the magical gingerbread house we’re talking about. What else is there to talk about these days? People think it’s just a fairytale, but it’s there, nestled deep in the heart of the enchanted forest.  No, I have not seen it, no one has. Not for a long time. Legend has it that only one family can see it, and only one child every million years in the royal bloodline is born with this ability.

Yes, Only the royal bloodline can give birth to the “moon child.”

Don’t make me tell the story. You already know anyway. Also, it’s getting late, you should sleep soon.

Oh, I don’t know darling. No one knows where it is—almost no one. Only the the moon child can be born with the ability to see and find this house, but the power to do that is still golden. Only one person has ever been born with this miracle of magic, only one in a million years.

Why? What an absurd question! The sorcerer casted a spell to hide it from all us normal people and gave Queen Diamond a gift, the gift of being able to see the house. Otherwise, we could all see it We could all harness the magic stored inside the home. We could all live for hundreds of years.

But we can’t.

Although magic is supposed to be used for good, if we could all use it, some of us would use it for bad, allowing them to conquer the world slowly–in fact, they would only start with the world, then the galaxies, then the universe. Furthermore, if everyone could use this magic, we would all get greedy for this marvelous power and soon the house would run out of magic, and wither away into a pile of ashes.

You child, of course, it exists! How else would the sun rise and fall every day? How else would the moon rise and fall every night? Do you think it’s all magic? Rubbish! It’s the house. The house and the forest created everything! Without them, everything would have never existed, we would have never existed. If we don’t thank the forest and house, what will happen to the life we have built here, what will happen to all of us, me, you, and all your companions?

Do you need me to explain it again? Well, I’d rather not.

Don’t cry, it’s not like you aren’t going to the ceremony, we all are. You’re already old enough.

Yes, of course, the royal family will be there, it’s their child after all.

You foolish child! Of course, the ceremony is special! Once the royal kins are old enough, they will help our realm grow. They will build connections to the distant kingdoms and we will all be allies. Don’t you see! This child will make our kingdom even better than it is now, and it’s all thanks to the sorcerer that this even happens.

Now go and finish your chores, child, the ceremony waits for no one after all.
