Intro to Terrain.

In roblox studio, you can create somewhat realistic terrain with the terrain editor. With the terrain editor, you can either randomly generate terrain, or create terrain with the built in tools.

If you don’t see the terrain editor already, click view, then click on the mountains with a pencil to show the terrain editor.

The create section is for either deleting all terrain, importing terrain from another file, or randomly generating terrain

An example of generated terrain is above. I recommend putting less biomes so the generated terrain isn’t completely flat.

An example of non-generated terrain. You can choose the shape of the terrain when you draw, the material of the terrain, and the size.

The fill tool fills the white bounding box that appears with whatever material you chose.

The paint tool replaces some terrain with another type of material

Smooth makes the terrain more smooth (can be used to make terrain look better)

Flatten causes the affected region to be flatter.

Transform uses the material that the blue bounding box is touching and places it in the shape of the bounding box.

Sculpt is literally just the draw tool

Sea level allows you to make the water levels in the bounding box consistent, or can be used to remove all water in the bounding box.
